I lead the software subteam at Queen's VEX U Robotics, where we own the controls and autonomy stack for the team's robots — written in Rust, C, and C++.

I came up through the team as a general member in my first year. The outgoing lead taught me MPC, and that's still the thing I point to when people ask what made the controls side click for me — going from tuning gains by feel to actually reasoning about a model and a horizon.

Now I run the subteam's meetings, check-ins, and reporting to directors, and coordinate across mechanical and software so the two sides stay in step. It's the same instinct as before — hardware and the logic driving it meet somewhere, and someone has to make sure both halves are looking at the same problem.
